We start from Col de Vence and make our way through the switchbacks designed in the XIXth century for horse-mounted soldiers. The hike is short in distance but steep in gradient. It is amazing in the autumn, with tree color turning to magnificent hues of orange and red. We enjoy our picnic at the top, taking advantage of the many spots on the Fort terraces with wonderful views of Belledonne and Grenoble. The way back is quick, via the same path we took on the way up.
